The Job

Cool PhotoTo begin, since I want my blog to look a little interesting and cool, I thought I left align this funky pic we took a little while ago when the three of us were having a photo shoot... hmm... maybe I shouldn't make that publically known. :)

Time for an update… I have been holding out till I had some good news to share with everyone, and now I do! I have found myself a job at last. Funnily enough I came about the job through gumtree, and well known website used in the UK mostly. Neil was the one who actually told me about the job, and the day after I applied for it, I had an interview, and shortly after, on my way back home, they called and gave me the job. Granted it’s not nearly what I hoped for in terms of salary, for a computer programming position, but I will be working in a relaxed environment with a nice group of guys. I will have to share more about the job once I have at least started working there :)

Ok, that’s about it on the work side of things. Things are still going very well in this beautiful city. My bus pass is about to expire, and I’m happy it didn’t happen today, since I got so terribly lost… you see the thing is I didn’t have my gps, so I cut across this section of town hoping to find a specific road that hosted the bus number 27. In the end, after getting my bearings using the Castle as a point of reference, I actually found a bus stop that had a map, and located where this elusive 27 bus route was hiding. My luck, when I did eventually climb onto the bus I found out it was only a part route, meaning it didn’t go all the way, which meant I had to either wait another 20 minutes or so for the next bus, or walk the 2 km or so that was left… I didn’t like either option, so I jogged all the way… and eventually arrived at Tineke’s house 2 hours late. I did however leave my house a little late to begin with, but anyway, the point of this whole story is that it was the first time I have been lost since I have arrived in the UK. But the thing is, I wasn’t exactly lost, I knew exactly which area I was in, I think I would just say I was delayed by finding myself in an unfamiliar area. And I didn’t have my trusty GPS!! I had decided to take my camera instead!

As you can see on the site, there hasn’t been much sight seeing and therefore there are only 5 new pictures. In the one picture you can see some snow that we had! Unfortunately, the snow didn’t settle in the lower lying areas, you could only make it out on the Pentlands (I think that’s what the mountains are called). During that week we had freezing cold weather, and ended up having the heater on almost all day for two or three days. I’m a little nervous about the gas bill, but at least I now have a job! Phew.

Onto another topic: Jam session on Friday. Well this past Friday it was a real jam session with Isaac on the electric guitar, Mark playing the keyboard and Tineke on the flute. Then I messed around, the best I could, on the guitar, and Ally brought her violin, but didn’t play very much. The week before we had just gone through some praise and worship songs and didn’t jam very much, but this week, with Isaac showing us his amazing skills on the electric guitar the jamming was more of a jam, and we had so much fun. Just hope it’s not too loud for the neighbours.

Well I think that’s enough for you to read for now. Tomorrow we will hopefully be ice-skating which should be fun. Perhaps I will try taking my camera with again, but this time, avoid getting lost by sticking to the areas I’m more familiar with.
